For anyone who follows me on FB, this tree will look strangely familiar. Usually it’s backlit by fierce colours as I haul myself out of bed around 4.30am to capture some of the incredible morning light that’s simply too beautiful to ignore. My dad rented these fields for a number of years – for an incredible £13 per year. It was my task to walk down here, morning and evening, to call the cows in for milking. We had a small herd – only about 10 cows by the time my sisters and I came along – and the cows and I would walk up the road to the farm every morning and evening. We’d dander down again much more slowly each time – the girls had been milked (so were a lot more comfortable) and had been fed meal too.
